The town of Makarska evolved in a natural harbour bordered by the Osejava cape in the south-east and the Sveti Petar peninsula in the north-west. In the last 50 years, the town spread incorporating the villages of Veliko Brdo, Puharići, Batinići and Makar, which are located at the very foot of the Biokovo mountain. But the quality is vast as well. With so many apartments to rent, my advice is to read as many reviews as possible before deciding to book one .You just need to study the market well. Beside apartments to rent, there are big hotels and smaller family-run hotels. Major hotel company in the town is still state owned. You'll probably be better off at the small family-run hotel.
